TRADITIONAL ALTARS
The pinnacle of Johana lacquerware, featuring a vibrant vermilion interior. This masterpiece is the face of our shop, embodying techniques passed down through three generations of artisans.
A traditional technique where transparent lacquer is layered over gold leaf, silver leaf, or gold maki-e. Named for its resemblance to the amber color of sandalwood (Byakudan), its clarity increases over time, making the underlying gold shine deeper and more brilliantly. A majestic piece worthy of being passed down for generations.
A technique where the lacquer surface is tapped with brushes or pads to create intentional, irregular undulations or a crepe-like pattern. This finish is exceptionally durable and effectively conceals scratches and smudges.
While sized to fit typical homes, there is no compromise in the delicate carving and lacquer work.。
A slightly smaller, premium altar designed to harmonize with modern living spaces while remaining a family heirloom to be cherished forever.
